Our hearts go out to the families devastated by the RAV-4 incident last week.
Why do the police chase stolen vehicles around Chico? The innocent 15-year-old girl who lost her life, plus the six injured, points out the dangers. The drivers are likely to be inexperienced (as in this case), drunk or drugged people who panic, then kill or injure others and destroy the stolen car as they crash into something else.
Is it worth that cost to recover vehicles? Can't we use other forms of surveillance and phone tailing that don't endanger the law-abiding people on our streets?
