The Chico Creek Nature Center in beautiful Bidwell Park will break ground in 2006 for a new exhibit and activities building. This facility will serve as a visitor information center for Bidwell Park. In addition to an exhibit hall, this building will include Kristie's Nature Lab, a 600 sq. ft. classroom (designer's drawing) where K-6th grade students can continue their environmental education with activities and studies that reinforce the lessons offered to them on hikes through the park. The lab will offer students various types of interactive equipment (projecting microscopes), exhibits (interactive murals), and work space that can aid them in learning interesting concepts about the natural world in a fun setting. The laboratory will also allow The Nature Center to extend its nature camp programs during the summer to include hands-on activities.
